Dwell
1.) To remain for a time.
2a.) To live as a resident.
2b.) To exist, lie.
3.) To keep the attention directed.
4.) To speak or write insistently.
(Merriam-Webster)
"It is not known precisely where angels dwell, whether in the air, the void, or the planets. It has not been God's pleasure that we should be informed of their abode." -Voltaire

I disagree with Voltaire, for today we know exactly where the angels dwell. They are in hospitals. They are in nursing homes. They are in hospice. They are in fire stations and police departments.
They reside in essential services, such as banks, supermarkets, pharmacies, postal services, trucking, national guard, or online stores.
And they are the service workers--documented and undocumented--who care for their employers, or for the public, or do migrant work in the fields, so that they may send money home to their families that they never see.

The rest of us, if we are lucky, are dwelling at home. Dwelling on happier times. Dwelling on the future.

A lovely entry, and I agree that we're surrounded by angels doing all manner of essential things. May we continue to remember this and express our gratitude, and offer support in whatever ways we can. I'm dwelling on the magnitude of loving-kindness I've seen expressed and the creative ways people are adapting.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the workers in peril and I wish they were all paid a good wage with benefits.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, that's true, angels everywhere these days, weeks.
ReplyDeleteStay safe, at home
I completely agree with what you have written. These are true heroes and I hope they remain safe.
