Gratitude

“Piglet noticed that even though he had a Very Small Heart, it could hold a rather large amount of Gratitude.”
-A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh

Studies show that people who are grateful for the good things in their lives are happier.

One way to remind ourselves of what we are thankful for is a gratitude journal. It can be as simple as listing one thing a day that makes you happy, or if you are a visual artist, drawing a symbol of something that makes you happy (for example, a flower or a bird). Another practice is to take 30 seconds longer in bed before getting up, to think of something that you love. This way, you always start your day with joy.

What makes you happy?

Tips on keeping a gratitude journal:

“Walk as if you are kissing the Earth with your feet.”

“Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.”
-Epicurus

“Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.”
-Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose

“When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.”
-Maya Angelou

“We must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives.”

-John F. Kennedy

“Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.”

-Voltaire

“Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.”

-Winston Churchill

“My gratitude for good writing is unbounded; I’m grateful for it the way I’m grateful for the ocean.”
